In celebration of the 175th Anniversary of the Scottish Mission in Budapest, the RCH speaks with Rev Aaron Stevens, current Minister at the Mission, to hear about his time in the congregation. Rev Stevens initially came to the Scottish Mission as a young man teaching English abroad, but before he knew it, his ties to Budapest became greater and greater. He is now entering his 10th year as Minister here and he shares his memories of service and calling with us as a reminder that sometimes the church is called to do extraordinary things. 

American Students Reflect on Their Transformative Time in Hungary

Each year since 1997, a group of students from Calvin College, a reformed Christian university in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, comes to Hungary for a semester abroad at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary. The students immerse themselves in Hungarian life and studies, while being transformed through vital service learning placements. 

An International Christmas

Each year the RCH Refugee Ministry coordinates a Christmas party for their clients and community members. This year, the event was attended by a diverse group of around 80 people, all gathered together to focus on the joy and love of the Christmas season. Religious and cultural differences added to the rich connections made between those in attendance, and set the tone for a joyous year ahead. 

Salaam Overnight Shelter (SOS) for Refugee Families with Children

"As the weather turns colder and colder, the refugees en route face another difficulty: most of them have insufficient clothing, and sleeping outside further endangers their health. Children and women are especially vulnerable, which is why St. Columba’s Church started the SOS project, aiming to provide a warm and welcoming environment where refugee families can rest for a night."

CoS Church & Society Secretary Visited Hungary

Martin Johnstone, newly appointed Secretary of the Church & Society Council of the Church of Scotland visited the Reformed Church in Hungary for a seven day official visit on the 17th April to the 23rd of April.
